Ah, the good old days of radio, when the whole family would gather around the device to listen to radio soap operas and the news. In Puerto Rico, radio was not only a source of entertainment, but also a vital link with the outside world. From thrilling sports narratives to dramatic serials, radio was in absolute control. But, like everything in life, technology advances and leaves us with a “goodbye! “and a “hello! “to the future.

With the arrival of television in the 1960s, family nights in front of the radio gave way to nights in front of the television. Suddenly, we couldn't just hear the stories, we could see them! The television became the new center of attention, relegating the radio to the background. But, in the true Puerto Rican spirit, radio never gave up and remains a strong presence in our lives, especially in our cars, accompanying us in the island's eternal traffic.

Now, we are moving into the 21st century, where streaming has taken the main stage. Platforms like Netflix, YouTube and Spotify allow us to see what we want, when we want, and where we want. Wait for our favorite show to start? How old-fashioned! Nowadays, everything is at our fingertips with a click. And although grandma may still prefer her soap operas to dinnertime, younger people are glued to their screens, consuming content at an astonishing rate.

So what does the future hold for us? The only constant in the media is change. But one thing is certain: no matter how many times technology changes, Puerto Ricans will always find a way to adapt and enjoy the best entertainment available.
